Sudan Archives in her home studio

    Purpose and audience

Output’s artist interview series — musicians in their own studios showing how they actually work. It grows our YouTube audience, builds credibility with professional artists, and feeds paid media. I originated the format with an episode featuring Grammy-nominated producer Oak Felder.

    My role

Director and producer. Ran the interview, led a crew of eight at Sudan Archives’ home studio in Los Angeles, and hired and directed the editor, colorist, and sound mixer.

    Lifecycle

Partnerships made the introduction; I shaped the content plan. One production day yielded around ten deliverables — hero film, social and ad cuts, and the photography and interview material behind the written feature on Output’s blog, which was drafted with AI tooling and edited by the team. Over 100,000 organic views, and a compilation ad built from series footage ran to roughly 500,000 on paid YouTube.

Still from Artists Meet Machine Learning

    Purpose and audience

A grants program, launched at Google I/O, funding six artists to make new work with machine learning. The film had to land with art audiences and technologists at once, without condescending to either.

    My role

Producer and editor, with director Alex Markman. Concept development, production and post management, editing.

    Lifecycle

Google set the budget, the artists, and a remote-only constraint. I built the production model around it — sourcing photographers and videographers local to each artist in London, Tallinn, Lima, Los Angeles, and New York, directing interviews remotely, then cutting the highlight film and six individual artist pieces. The material was rich enough that Google expanded the project into a larger multimedia experience, and the model led to a year-long production partnership with eBay.

  • Coming to America, a modern retelling

    Purpose and audience

A four-part series of origin stories for Guardian US readers — the first days in a new country, the practical business of building a life there, and what each person had been pursuing. The brief was to profile people who had made that move and built something, for a readership containing many who had made it themselves.

    My role

Producer and director of photography on all four films; co-editor with Alex Markman, who directed and conducted the interviews.

    Lifecycle

The Guardian team identified the subjects. I traveled to and ran production on all four films across New York, Los Angeles, and Washington DC, shot each one, and co-edited the films and social cutdowns in post.
